Ticketing Strategy in the Australian National Basketball League

David Shilbury

This article examines the growth and development of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). The league was established in 1979 and has grown to become the only true national sporting league in Australia. Specifically, this article examines the growth of attendance and ticket sales during the period since inception. Ticket sales and stadium capacity are considered in light of Mullin's (1985) Attendance Frequency Escalator theory.
