Bart S Lerner
Bart Lerner, PhD, is currently the academic dean at West Coast University. He received his doctoral degree in sport behavior and his master’s degree in counseling from West Virginia University, and a second master's degree in kinesiology at the University of Maryland. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of California at San Diego. Dr. Lerner is an AASP certified consultant; his areas of interest include youth sport education, performance enhancement training (e.g., goal setting, imagery, performance anxiety), self-confidence, psychological aspects of injury and rehabilitation, substance abuse issues, supervision and training, and graduate training in sport psychology. He has experience working with youth, high school, college, and professional athletes in the field of sport psychology. Dr. Lerner has taught courses in the exercise sciences (e.g., exercise physiology, motor learning and development, and psychology aspects of injury); statistics; as well as counseling related courses (e.g., counseling skills, life-span development, and substance abuse). He is the co-author of the book Training Professionals in the Practice of Sport Psychology.
