James T Reese
James T. Reese, EdD, is currently an associate professor in the sport management program at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to his arrival at Drexel, he was an associate professor and graduate director in the Department of Sport Management at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Before that, he served as an associate professor at SUNY Cortland in the Sport Management Department, and as graduate coordinator from 2006 until 2010.
Prior to his appointment at SUNY Cortland, Reese coordinated the undergraduate sport management program at Ohio University, establishing a partnership with the College of Business’ Sales Centre to create a sport management sales certificate program. It was one of the first in the United States. He has participated in various consulting/education projects involving, among other subjects, ticket operations training for the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and ticket and sponsorship sales for numerous sport organizations.
Reese has a long history of involvement within the sport industry. From 2002–2003, Reese was the vice president of IFSA/USA (International Federation of Strength Athletes). Prior to that appointment, he worked as a ticketing administrator for the Denver Broncos Football Club for three years (1996-1999), assisting in the ticket planning of Super Bowls XXXII and XXXIII. Reese began his career in the sport industry with two years (1994–1996) as an assistant tennis coach and facility management assistant at Georgia Southern University and two additional years (1996–1998) as an assistant tennis coach and facility management assistant at the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Reese conducts research in the areas of ticket operations, ticket sales, ticketing related legal issues in intercollegiate and professional sport, ethical issues related to sport, and facility and event management.
